Athletics

Missouri S&T athletic teams are known as the Miners; and the women's teams are referred to as the Lady Miners. The name comes from the university's history as a mining school. Missouri S&T competes at the NCAA Division II level in thirteen sports and is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for most sports, the Great Lakes Football Conference (GLFC) for football (will be absorbed by GLVC in the fall of 2012), and the New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference (NSISC) for men's swimming.
