Film Version
On 21 October 2009, a film version of the musical was reported to be in "early stages of development". Producer Paula Wagner was reported to be teaming with the original musical producer Cameron Mackintosh to create a film version of the musical. Director Lee Daniels has mentioned directing the film version as a possible future project. Filming locations are said to be Cambodia and quite possibly Ho Chi Minh City (the former Saigon). No casting has been mentioned but speculation states that the producers will be seeking an unknown for the lead role of Kim.
It has recently been reported by Cameron Mackintosh that the film version of Miss Saigon will depend on if the upcoming Les Misérables film is a success.

Famous quotes containing the words film and/or version:
“Film is more than the twentieth-century art. Its another part of the twentieth-century mind. Its the world seen from inside. Weve come to a certain point in the history of film. If a thing can be filmed, the film is implied in the thing itself. This is where we are. The twentieth century is on film.... You have to ask yourself if theres anything about us more important than the fact that were constantly on film, constantly watching ourselves.”
—Don Delillo (b. 1926)
“It is never the thing but the version of the thing:
The fragrance of the woman not her self,
Her self in her manner not the solid block,
The day in its color not perpending time,
Time in its weather, our most sovereign lord,
The weather in words and words in sounds of sound.”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
