Lyrical Content
Torres introduces social and political content in his lyrics. The political aspect of his songs was present at a time where cultural nationalism was experiencing growth among Puerto Rican youths, which was evidenced by manifestations against the US military presence in the island (see Navy-Vieques protests). Some Puerto Ricans were showing opposition to the American presence in Vieques, and also condemned the imprisonment of Puerto Rican prisoners in U.S. federal penitentiaries
