Future Computer Use in The Military

In the last 20 years, wide acceptance of small-scale computer technology in the military has occurred, and is likely to increase greatly. Famous quotes containing the words future, computer and/or military:

The final upshot of thinking is the exercise of volition, and of this thought no longer forms a part; but belief is only a stadium of mental action, an effect upon our nature due to thought, which will influence future thinking.
    Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914)

The computer takes up where psychoanalysis left off. It takes the ideas of a decentered self and makes it more concrete by modeling mind as a multiprocessing machine.
    Sherry Turkle (b. 1948)

There was somewhat military in his nature, not to be subdued, always manly and able, but rarely tender, as if he did not feel himself except in opposition. He wanted a fallacy to expose, a blunder to pillory, I may say required a little sense of victory, a roll of the drum, to call his powers into full exercise.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
