On the 3rd of January 2013 the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defense Industries announced that RMK Marine Gemi Yapım Sanayi A.S., a Turkish Defense company was to build a further 6 MILGEM class corvettes for the Turkish Navy at a cost of $1.5 billion .
