Mike Parry - Personal Life

Personal Life

Parry supports Everton Football Club.

In 2004, he suffered heart failure and was treated at Harefield Hospital. In 2004, Parry was diagnosed with advanced dilated cardiomyopathy and placed on the transplant list. At a routine check up in January 2005, Parry's consultant stated there was a "marked improvement" but told Parry that although his condition might be stable, his heart wouldn't improve. In April 2005, due to a combination of drug treatment and Parry's improvements in digestion and exercise, resulting in a loss of four stones in six months, Parry was removed from the transplant list. Parry completed the Great North Run, raising £9,000 pounds for Harefield Hospital in September 2007.

Parry currently resides in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

Personality and mind, like moustaches, belong to a certain age. They are a deformity in a child.... Leave his sensibilities, his emotions, his spirit, and his mind severely alone. There is the devil in mothers, that they must provoke personal ... response from their infants.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

I had this advantage, at least, in my mode of life, over those who were obliged to look abroad for amusement, to society and the theatre, that my life itself was become my amusement and never ceased to be novel. It was a drama of many scenes and without an end.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
