The 13-episode anime was produced by Studio Pierrot. Throughout its length and especially with the character Ultra-Marin, the Midori Days anime series pokes fun at the magical girl sub-genre of shōjo manga and anime. This is especially ironic because Pierrot is a notable pioneer of the magical girl sub-genre, beginning with the Mahō no... series.
