Two of the current members, Georgetown and UVa–Wise, are currently transitioning to NCAA Division II and also have provisional membership in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). UVa–Wise, now approved as a provisional NCAA member, will leave the G-MAC in July 2013 to become a charter member of the Mountain East Conference. Georgetown is still actively seeking NCAA membership, but was initially denied by that organization. It will become a full G-MAC member once approved by the NCAA.

Famous quotes containing the words member and/or schools:

We live in a highly industrialized society and every member of the Black nation must be as academically and technologically developed as possible. To wage a revolution, we need competent teachers, doctors, nurses, electronics experts, chemists, biologists, physicists, political scientists, and so on and so forth. Black women sitting at home reading bedtime stories to their children are just not going to make it.
Frances Beale, African American feminist and civil rights activist. The Black Woman, ch. 14 (1970)

It is too late in the century for women who have received the benefits of co-education in schools and colleges, and who bear their full share in the world’s work, not to care who make the laws, who expound and who administer them.
    J. Ellen Foster (1840–1910)
