Famous quotes containing the words school, fine and/or art:
“When we were at school we were taught to sing the songs of the Europeans. How many of us were taught the songs of the Wanyamwezi or of the Wahehe? Many of us have learnt to dance the rumba, or the cha cha, to rock and roll and to twist and even to dance the waltz and foxtrot. But how many of us can dance, or have even heard of the gombe sugu, the mangala, nyangumumi, kiduo, or lele mama?”
—Julius K. Nyerere (b. 1922)
“It is fine for a woman to know a lot; but I dont want her to have this shocking desire to be learned for learnedness sake. When I ask a woman a question, I like her to pretend to ignore what she really knows.”
—Molière [Jean Baptiste Poquelin] (16221673)
“We live under a prince who is an enemy to fraud, a prince whose eyes penetrate into the heart, and whom all the art of impostors cant deceive.”
—Molière [Jean Baptiste Poquelin] (16221673)
