Michael Larson - The Game

The Game

Before the game began, host Peter Tomarken commented, "We're going to have Big Bucks today, I can feel it." During the contestant introductions, Larson and Tomarken talked about Larson's summer job as an ice cream truck driver and how Larson had had enough of it. Tomarken quipped, "So you've O.D.'ed on ice cream? Well, hopefully you won't O.D. on money, Michael. Best of luck to you."

Famous quotes containing the words the game and/or game:

Every fact is related on one side to sensation, and, on the other, to morals. The game of thought is, on the appearance of one of these two sides, to find the other: given the upper, to find the under side.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Neighboring farmers and visitors at White Sulphur drove out occasionally to watch ‘those funny Scotchmen’ with amused superiority; when one member imported clubs from Scotland, they were held for three weeks by customs officials who could not believe that any game could be played with ‘such elongated blackjacks or implements of murder.’
—For the State of West Virginia, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Life is a game in which the rules are constantly changing; nothing spoils a game more than those who take it seriously. Adultery? Phooey! You should never subjugate yourself to another nor seek the subjugation of someone else to yourself. If you follow that Crispian principle you will be able to say “Phooey,” too, instead of reaching for your gun when you fancy yourself betrayed.
    Quentin Crisp (b. 1908)
