Miami Killian offers over 12 different AP (Advanced Placement) courses, which can be taken for college credit if a student passes the culminating exam at the end of the year. Two teachers, Dr. M. McGraw (AP Environmental Science) and Mr. S. Bruce (AP Human Geography), hold the recognition of having the nation's highest AP test passing rate for Hispanic students.
Miami Killian's athletic rivals are Miami Palmetto Senior High School and Coral Reef Senior High School, Coral Gables Senior High School and Miami Sunset Senior High School.
The school was built in 1965. Miami Killian serves a diverse population both culturally and socioeconomically. It is one of the nation's most diverse high schools.
