Famous quotes containing the words men, field and/or summer:

Every rational creature has all nature for his dowry and estate. It is his, if he will. He may divest himself of it; he may creep into a corner, and abdicate his kingdom, as most men do, but he is entitled to the world by his constitution.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Life lies behind us as the quarry from whence we get tiles and copestones for the masonry of today. This is the way to learn grammar. Colleges and books only copy the language which the field and the work-yard made.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Climate of Egypt in winter is the reign of spring upon earth, & summer in the air, and tranquility in the heat.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
