Queen's brother-in-law was Jim Lonborg, who pitched from 1965 to 1979 for the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies.
Mel Queen was a longtime resident of Morro Bay, California, where he died at the age of 69 following complications from cancer.
