Influence in Contemporary Music

The influence of medieval music can be seen in classical music (as example, Johannes Brahms). It influenced the classical rock since 1950 to 1970, what can be seen in music as The House of the Rising Sun and Stay Away, Joe. In Berlin, 1989, a mix of medieval music and heavy metal created the band Corvus Corax, that called the style "Mittelalter metal", or Medieval rock, described by some as combining the old and the new, followed by In Extremo, Subway to Sally, Morgenstern and others else. Léonin and Pérotin have influenced minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and La Monte Young.

Famous quotes containing the words influence, contemporary and/or music:

Constitutional statutes ... which embody the settled public opinion of the people who enacted them and whom they are to govern—can always be enforced. But if they embody only the sentiments of a bare majority, pronounced under the influence of a temporary excitement, they will, if strenuously opposed, always fail of their object; nay, they are likely to injure the cause they are framed to advance.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

... contemporary black women felt they were asked to choose between a black movement that primarily served the interests of black male patriarchs and a women’s movement which primarily served the interests of racist white women.
    bell hooks (b. c. 1955)

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society where none intrudes
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but nature more,
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
