Medical University of Bahrain - Bahraini Uprising

Bahraini Uprising

During the Bahraini uprising, the Ministry of Education asked the college to arrange meetings with some students who had participated in anti-government marches. Students were asked about their reasons for taking part in those marches.

The Ministry of Education withdrew the scholarships of 2 students in RCSI-MUB who had taken part in the anti-government movement. The reason given by the Ministry was that they breached their contracts of remaining non-political during their educational process.

The college has come under criticism for not supporting its graduates or students who have been victims of the crackdown against the uprising and who have been arrested. The issue was raised in the Irish Seanad.

An uprising would punish only the country, and that is out of the question. But there is yet another approach, the most effective form of resistance: contemptuous compliance.
