Meadow Skipper

Meadow Skipper was a Standardbred racehorse foaled in 1960 by Dale Frost out of Countess Vivian by Kings Council. He earned $ 428,057 as a racehorse.

He was a world or season champion every year he raced and when he retired to the breeding farm it was no different. Meadow Skipper is one of the sport's outstanding sires. As a breeding champion he shone, with his progeny earning an incredible $66 million. He has sired over 450 two minute pacers including Triple Crown winners Ralph Hanover and Most Happy Fella, plus Albatross, sire of Niatross, Chairmanoftheboard and Naughty But Nice.

Albatross's 2,546 sons and daughters won $130,700,280. Niatross is believed by many to be the greatest harness horse of all time. He was Harness Horse of the Year as a two and three year old in 1979 and 1980, won the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers and obliterated the world record by three full seconds with a mile time of 1:49.1.

Famous quotes containing the word meadow:

Nature has taken more care than the fondest parent for the education and refinement of her children. Consider the silent influence which flowers exert, no less upon the ditcher in the meadow than the lady in the bower. When I walk in the woods, I am reminded that a wise purveyor has been there before me; my most delicate experience is typified there.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
