Maximilian Kolbe - Religious Influence

Religious Influence

Kolbe's influence has found fertile ground in his own Franciscan Order, in the form of the Franciscan Friars of Mary Immaculate (O.F.M.I.), a Franciscan religious institute whose Rule is influenced by the spirituality of St. Maximilian. These friars are even taught basic Polish so they can sing the traditional hymns sung by Kolbe, in the saint's native tongue. According to the friars,

"Our patron, St. Maximilian Kolbe, inspires us with his unique Mariology and apostolic mission, which is to bring all souls to the Sacred Heart of Christ through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Christ's most pure, efficient, and holy instrument of evangelization – especially those most estranged from the Church."

Famous quotes containing the words religious and/or influence:

The religious inebriation of big cities.—Pantheism.
I am everyone; everyone is me.
    Whirlwind.
    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)

Poets are the hierophants of an unapprehended inspiration; the mirrors of the gigantic shadows which futurity casts upon the present; the words which express what they understand not; the trumpets which sing to battle and feel not what they inspire; the influence which is moved not, but moves. Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)
