Massachusetts Air National Guard

The Massachusetts Air National Guard (MA ANG) is the air force militia of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States of America. It is, along with the Massachusetts Army National Guard, an element of the Massachusetts National Guard.

As commonwealth militia units, the units in the Massachusetts Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command. They are under the jurisdiction of the Governor of Massachusetts though the office of the Massachusetts Adjutant General unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. The Massachusetts Air National Guard is headquartered in Milford, and its commander is Brigadier General Gary W. Keefe.

Famous quotes containing the words air, national and/or guard:

What did it matter where you lay once you were dead? In a dirty sump or in a marble tower on top of a high hill? You were dead, you were sleeping the big sleep, you were not bothered by things like that. Oil and water were the same as wind and air to you.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

    The progress
Is permanent like the preordained bulk
    Of the First National Bank
    Like fish sauce, but agreeable.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

It is rare indeed that people give. Most people guard and keep; they suppose that it is they themselves and what they identify with themselves that they are guarding and keeping, whereas what they are actually guarding and keeping is their system of reality and what they assume themselves to be.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)
