Pressure Dependence of The Diffusion Coefficient
For self-diffusion in gases at two different pressures (but the same temperature), the following empirical equation has been suggested:
where:
- P1 and P2 denote pressures 1 and 2, respectively
- D is the diffusion coefficient (m2/s)
- ρ is the gas mass density (kg/m3)

Famous quotes containing the words pressure and/or dependence:
“This is a catastrophic universe, always; and subject to sudden reversals, upheavals, changes, cataclysms, with joy never anything but the song of substance under pressure forced into new forms and shapes.”
—Doris Lessing (b. 1919)
“As, therefore, we can have no dependence upon morality without religion;Mso, on the other hand, there is nothing better to be expected from religion without morality;Mnevertheless, tis no prodigy to see a man whose real moral character stands very low, who yet entertains the highest notion of himself, in the light of a religious man.”
—Laurence Sterne (17131768)
