Communism and Hinduism

Some principles of Hinduism can be seen as compatible with communism, because, in spite of it being largely theistic, the religion openly allows atheism and accepts the practice of it within itself.

A vast number of followers of Nepalese Maoist leader Prachanda and members of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) follow Hinduism, preferring the communist system to the Nepalese monarchy, despite Mao Zedong's hostility towards religion.
