He has been the manager of the infamous Portsmouth Sinfonia – the self-described World’s Worst Orchestra whose alumni include ambient pioneer Brian Eno, film composer Michael Nyman, avant-garde composer Gavin Bryars and rock producer Clive Langer - since 1973.
