Marshall Railway Station - Reopening

Reopening

The Regional Fast Rail project involved an upgrade of the line between Melbourne and Geelong, as well as a new station at Grovedale to service its growing population.

Although two other sites were originally proposed, it was eventually decided to construct the new station on the site of the former Marshall station. That decision was controversial, as many in the local community had wanted the station be built in Grovedale itself, while others were pushing for the station to be at Waurn Ponds to serve the nearby Deakin University.

In 2010 the car park at the station was expanded and a secure "Parkiteer" bike cage installed.
