National Team
Despite a significant amount of success in MLS, Chung never had a significant role in the U.S. national team. Chung made his first appearance April 4, 1992 against China, but in total made only 24 appearances, and scored only two goals. He was the first of two Chinese-American players to play for the USA, the second was Brian Ching.

Famous quotes containing the words national and/or team:
“Five oclock tea is a phrase our rude forefathers, even of the last generation, would scarcely have understood, so completely is it a thing of to-day; and yet, so rapid is the March of the Mind, it has already risen into a national institution, and rivals, in its universal application to all ranks and ages, and as a specific for all the ills that flesh is heir to, the glorious Magna Charta.”
—Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (18321898)
“I also heard the whooping of the ice in the pond, my great bed-fellow in that part of Concord, as if it were restless in its bed and would fain turn over, were troubled with flatulency and bad dreams; or I was waked by the cracking of the ground by the frost, as if some one had driven a team against my door, and in the morning would find a crack in the earth a quarter of a mile long and a third of an inch wide.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
