Marist College Eastwood - House System

House System

There are four houses, all of which are named after people who have contributed to the development of the school:

  • Maloney - Sky Blue, Dark Blue - named after Jim Maloney, first student to be enrolled.
  • Elliott - Gold, Green - named after J.W. Elliott, the local chemist who donated 3386 pounds to enable a school to be built behind Eastwood House.
  • Cusack - Dark Green, Black - named after Fr. Cusack, first parish priest of St. Kevin's.
  • Leopold - Burgundy, Yellow - named after Br Leopold, first principal.

Famous quotes containing the words house and/or system:

The night in prison was novel and interesting enough.... I found that even here there was a history and a gossip which never circulated beyond the walls of the jail. Probably this is the only house in the town where verses are composed, which are afterward printed in a circular form, but not published. I was shown quite a long list of verses which were composed by some young men who had been detected in an attempt to escape, who avenged themselves by singing them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I confidently predict the collapse of capitalism and the beginning of history. Something will go wrong in the machinery that converts money into money, the banking system will collapse totally, and we will be left having to barter to stay alive. Those who can dig in their garden will have a better chance than the rest. I’ll be all right; I’ve got a few veg.
    Margaret Drabble (b. 1939)
