Since then, she has written for the Phoenix New Times, The Press-Enterprise, and Austin Monthly Magazine. By 2002, Tucker was a staff writer for the Santa Fe Reporter and remained there until her move to New York City.

While working towards her M.A., Tucker was an associate editor at the Columbia Journal of American Studies. Upon graduation in 2005, she was hired by AlterNet, where she stayed until late spring of 2006. Her contributions to the website included stories on immigration and social justice.

Famous quotes containing the words work and/or experience:

The lady—bearer of this—says she has two sons who want to work. Set them at it, if possible. Wanting to work is so rare a merit, that it should be encouraged.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other’s eyes for an instant? We should live in all the ages of the world in an hour; ay, in all the worlds of the ages. History, Poetry, Mythology!—I know of no reading of another’s experience so startling and informing as this would be.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
