Margraves Of Baden

The Margraviate of Baden (German: Markgrafschaft Baden) was a historical territory in the Holy Roman Empire. In 1112 it was already so named, existed until division between Durlach and Baden-Baden in 1535, then revived by their reunion in 1771. In 1803, support for Napoleon saw the margraviate raised to Electorate of Baden. The lords of the county emerged from the noble House of Zähringen.
