Marble Mountain Wilderness - Recreation

Recreation

With 89 lakes and two major Wild and Scenic river systems-Wooley Creek and the North Fork Salmon River, as well as 32 miles (51 km) of the Pacific Crest Trail, there are many recreation opportunities. Elevations range from 400 feet (120 m) to 8,299 feet (2,530 m) giving a highly variable terrain with low-elevation canyons and high ridges such as the 22-mile (35 km)-long English Peak ridge.

Popular activities include fishing, backpacking and cross-country skiing.

There are several national forest campgrounds outside the boundary and one camp inside the wilderness near Wooley Creek, named after Anthony Milne, who was a miner in the area around 1885.

Famous quotes containing the word recreation:

Media mystifications should not obfuscate a simple, perceivable fact; Black teenage girls do not create poverty by having babies. Quite the contrary, they have babies at such a young age precisely because they are poor—because they do not have the opportunity to acquire an education, because meaningful, well-paying jobs and creative forms of recreation are not accessible to them ... because safe, effective forms of contraception are not available to them.
    Angela Davis (b. 1944)

Playing snooker gives you firm hands and helps to build up character. It is the ideal recreation for dedicated nuns.
    Archbishop Luigi Barito (b. 1922)
