Manju Warrier - Personal Life

Personal Life

Manju Warrier's father is an accountant, and mother a housewife. Their native place is Pullu, near Cherpu in Thrissur District. She has one brother Madhu Warrier who is also a popular actor. She did her schooling from Chovva High school and Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kannur.

She was a talented dancer and made her debut in Malayalam films at the age of 18. She established herself as an actress par excellence in a very short period from her debut. She has also won the Kerala state award for best actress for the year 1996.

Manju Warrier got married to actor Dileep on 20 October 1998 at Aluva Sri Krishna Temple. Their marriage created a controversy about whether married actresses should be expected to leave the field (Manju was a leading actress in Malayalam cinema during the late 1990s but chose to stop acting after marriage). She now lives in Kochi with Dileep and daughter, Meenakshi.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

The ingrained idea that, because there is no king and they despise titles, the Americans are a free people is pathetically untrue.... There is a perpetual interference with personal liberty over there that would not be tolerated in England for a week.
    Margot Asquith (1864–1945)

Television ... helps blur the distinction between framed and unframed reality. Whereas going to the movies necessarily entails leaving one’s ordinary surroundings, soap operas are in fact spatially inseparable from the rest of one’s life. In homes where television is on most of the time, they are also temporally integrated into one’s “real” life and, unlike the experience of going out in the evening to see a show, may not even interrupt its regular flow.
