“Short of a wholesale reform of college athleticsa complete breakdown of the whole system that is now focused on money and powerthe womens programs are just as doomed as the mens are to move further and further away from the academic mission of their colleges.... “Chipmunks jump, and
Greensnakes slither.
Rather burst than
Not be with her.”

“O my countrymen!be nice;Mbe cautious of your language;and never, O! never let it be forgotten upon what small particles your eloquence and your fame depend.”
—Laurence Sterne (17131768)
“I have no connections here; only gusty collisions,
rootless seedlings forced into bloom, that collapse.
...
I am the Visiting Poet: a real unicorn,
a wind-up plush dodo, a wax museum of the Movement.
People want to push the buttons and see me glow.”
—Marge Piercy (b. 1936)
