Manglish Vs Singlish
The difference of Manglish and Singlish is the use of colloquialism or expressions specifically for the location. The word used by Manglish is influenced more by Malay language; on the other hand, Singlish is influenced by Hokkien or Mandarin accent and words in it. Malay is compulsory language in Malaysia and the influence of it in Manglish is undeniable. For example, Manglish uses words like “kena” and etc while Singlish uses words like “liao”, “nia”. However, the influences of both languages within each other are great and it is hard to differentiate by foreigner.
