Maine State Route 118 - Route Description

Route Description

Route 118 begins at an intersection with State Route 35 north of Waterford, near its intersection with State Route 5. Route 118 departs to the east, passing through East Waterford, meeting the northern end of State Route 37 before entering the town of Norway. Route 118 continues east into town, passing south of Lake Penneseewassee (Norway Lake), before meeting State Route 117, which approaches from the south. Route 117 North turns to join Route 118 East, and the two routes continue into downtown Norway, serving as Main Street. Upon reaching the end of Main Street, the two routes intersect with State Route 26. Route 118 ends at this intersection, with Route 117 joining Route 26 northbound into South Paris.

Famous quotes containing the words route and/or description:

A route differs from a road not only because it is solely intended for vehicles, but also because it is merely a line that connects one point with another. A route has no meaning in itself; its meaning derives entirely from the two points that it connects. A road is a tribute to space. Every stretch of road has meaning in itself and invites us to stop. A route is the triumphant devaluation of space, which thanks to it has been reduced to a mere obstacle to human movement and a waste of time.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)

I fancy it must be the quantity of animal food eaten by the English which renders their character insusceptible of civilisation. I suspect it is in their kitchens and not in their churches that their reformation must be worked, and that Missionaries of that description from [France] would avail more than those who should endeavor to tame them by precepts of religion or philosophy.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
