Safety

A number of features of MRI scanning can give rise to risks.

These include:

  • Powerful magnetic fields
  • Radio waves
  • Cryogenic liquids
  • Noise
  • Claustrophobia.

In addition, in cases where MRI contrast agents are used, these also typically have associated risks.
