Variations
Naming for the various roles, factions, and other elements of play is theme dependent and has limitless variation. Common themes involve the Mafia players being restyled as Werewolves, Worshippers, Assassins or Witches, with other roles being renamed appropriately.
Variants may introduce additional night-time phases, allowing special-role characters to do business during the night, either before or after the Mafia.
In some variants, the Narrator may conceal the role or alignment of killed players, or allow killed players the choice of revealing their own card.
