The channel gained popularity among Telugu television viewers. Programs such as "avakayyara?", "Colors" attracted many viewers. The anchor of "colours" program Swati Reddy became popular and later acted as heroine in Telugu and Tamil movies. Daily serials such as Radha-Madhu, ammamma.com, Laya, Maa Pasalapoodi kathalu, Sivaranjani etc. helped in maintaining the channels popularity. Maatv expanded its operations with launch of maa Music channel in 2008. In 2011 It launched two new channels maa Movies and Maa Juniors. Maa Juniors channel ceased its operations on 25 January 2012. A new entertainment channel Maa Gold was launched on 4 February 2012 during Maa music Awards program
