Southern Extension
As part of the Forth Replacement Crossing scheme, the M90 will be extended by another 5.4 miles (8.7 km) south over a new cable-stayed bridge to Scotstoun Interchange and its junction with the A90.
It is also likely that, as part of the Forth Replacement Crossing scheme, the 4.2 miles (6.8 km) long M9 spur north of the expanded Junction 1a will be renamed as the M90, connecting the motorway to the rest of the UK motorway network over fifty years after the first section of M90 opened in 1964.

Famous quotes containing the words southern and/or extension:
“... so far from thinking that a slaveholder is bound by the immoral and unconstitutional laws of the Southern States, we hold that he is solemnly bound as a man, as an American, to break them, and that immediately and openly ...”
—Angelina Grimké (18051879)
“Slavery is founded on the selfishness of mans natureopposition to it on his love of justice. These principles are in eternal antagonism; and when brought into collision so fiercely as slavery extension brings them, shocks and throes and convulsions must ceaselessly follow.”
