Early Career

At the suggestion of photographer Bruce Weber who spotted her at a Calvin Klein photo shoot, she left Utah aged 17 for Paris to pursue a career as a model. In Paris, she went on to work for Thierry Mugler and Chanel - and model for renowned photographers Guy Bourdin, David Bailey and Jean-Paul Goude. Famous quotes containing the words early and/or career:

At the earliest ending of winter,
In March, a scrawny cry from outside
Seemed like a sound in his mind.
He knew that he heard it,
A bird’s cry, at daylight or before,
    In the early March wind.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

A black boxer’s career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)
