LVM Gang

LVM Gang (Luzon Visayan Mobsters) sometimes known as Luzon Visayan Mindanao was a predominantly Filipino gang located around the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County areas . The gang was in existence in the early 1980s to late 1990s . It's believed that there are still active members in some areas today .

The name Luzon and Visayan was named after the two provinces of the Philippines and the letter "M" was chosen after a third, which was Mindanao. Later Mindanao was dropped and was renamed to Mobsters.

By the early 1990s under the leadership of 21 year old Peter Lonely, LVM spread throughout other regions and became dominant in cities and regions like West Covina, Oxnard, Semi Valley, Cerittos, Yorba Linda, La Palma and Fullerton . As cellphones were just about non-existent at the time, Peter Lonely ordered all vehicles to be equipped with CB radios . The CB radios played an important part in facilitating all gang activities. He understood that communication was the key and tried to model LVM after the Los Angeles Police departments communication system. As the gang grew stronger, LVM became a multinational gang with members consisting of Filipinos, Koreans, Vietnamese, Thai and few Hispanics and blacks. This was because some cities were controlled by other nationalities such as Fullerton, where LVM was controlled by Koreans. Other Filipino and some Korean gangs resented having a gang with such a name of origin like Luzon and Visayan to have members of different nationalities. LVM also had female members who were known as LVC, which stood for Luzon Visaya Chicas. In 1989 a senior member of LVM by the nickname of Husky betrayed LVC at the urging of his girlfriend by having 5 of the girls beaten by male members of Westside Wilmas a gang in the Long beach Carson area. The incident was witnessed by Peter Lonely who at that time had not yet taken command of LVM. At a meeting the following week. Husky managed to convince most of the senior members of LVM that LVC had run with and slept with rival gang members and thus should not be trusted. This however, was not the truth and although Peter Lonely testified on behalf of LVC, a decision was made in favor of Husky. That night ended with Pete Lonely standing between LVC and the guns of LVM. In late 1989 a final LVM meeting was held at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. There LVM split into 2 groups. Those that supported Peter Lonely and those that supported Husky. LVC later regrouped and changed their name to Demonyas which later grew to be one of southern California's largest and most successful all female Asian gang. Although they asked Peter Lonely to start and lead the male version of Demonyas, he refused. A few months later senior members of LVM, at the urging of Husky, shot up a rival gang member's home with automatic weapons in a poorly thought out plan that resulted in the arrest of key members of the gang. With morale low and severely weakened, LVM slowly died out.

Famous quotes containing the word gang:

What lies behind facts like these: that so recently one could not have said Scott was not perfect without earning at least sorrowful disapproval; that a year after the Gang of Four were perfect, they were villains; that in the fifties in the United States a nothing-man called McCarthy was able to intimidate and terrorise sane and sensible people, but that in the sixties young people summoned before similar committees simply laughed.
    Doris Lessing (b. 1919)
