Athletics Philosophy, Facilities & Sports

Athletic Philosophy: The Student Handbook of states: Lutheran West’s athletic program strives to assist athletes in their spiritual, physical, and intellectual growth. Teams are built to achieve not only excellence and athletic victory but also to display God-pleasing words and behavior in all situations. The program’s intent is to guide young people to "grow both in body and in wisdom, gaining favor with God and all who know them." (Luke 2:52).

Famous quotes containing the words facilities and/or sports:

I have always found that when men have exhausted their own resources, they fall back on “the intentions of the Creator.” But their platitudes have ceased to have any influence with those women who believe they have the same facilities for communication with the Divine mind as men have.
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902)

It was so hard to pry this door open, and if I mess up I know the people behind me are going to have it that much harder. Because then there’s living proof. They can sit around and say, “See? It doesn’t work.” I don’t want to be their living proof.
Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 87 (June 17, 1991)
