The Lutheran Church in Australia is:
- a member of the National Council of Churches in Australia
- an associate member of the Lutheran World Federation and the International Lutheran Council
It also has an "altar and pulpit fellowship" with the two Lutheran churches in Papua New Guinea, these being the:
- Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea
- Gutnius Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea
