The Louisiana Pelican Classic is an annual golf tournament for professional women golfers on the FUTURES Tour, the LPGA's developmental tour. The event has been a part of the FUTURES Tour's schedule since 2006. It takes place at The Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The tournament is a 54-hole event, as are most FUTURES Tour tournaments, and includes pre-tournament pro-am opportunities, in which local amateur golfers can play with the professional golfers from the Tour as a benefit for local charities. The benefitting charity from the Louisiana Pelican Classic is Goodwill Industries of Acadiana.

Famous quotes containing the words louisiana and/or classic:
“I saw in Louisiana a live-oak growing,
All alone stood it and the moss hung down from the branches,
Without any companion it grew there uttering joyous leaves of dark
green,
And its look, rude, unbending, lusty, made me think of myself,
But I wonderd how it could utter joyous leaves standing alone
there without its friend near, for I knew I could not,”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“One classic American landscape haunts all of American literature. It is a picture of Eden, perceived at the instant of history when corruption has just begun to set in. The serpent has shown his scaly head in the undergrowth. The apple gleams on the tree. The old drama of the Fall is ready to start all over again.”
—Jonathan Raban (b. 1942)
