Louise-Schroeder-Gymnasium - History

History

The Louise-Schroeder-Gymnasium relocated in 1982. The old premises now form the grounds of the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium. The school owes its name to Louise Schroeder, SPD Politician and Berlin's Mayor from 1947/48. The new grounds form a school centre, complete with a Grundschule (Grundschule an der Pfarrer-Grimm-Straße), Realschule (Carl-Spitzweg-Realschule), and the Louise-Schroeder-Gymnasium. Around 1000 pupils attend the Louise-Schroeder-Gymnasium, with a staff of approximately 70.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)

There is nothing truer than myth: history, in its attempt to “realize” myth, distorts it, stops halfway; when history claims to have “succeeded” this is nothing but humbug and mystification. Everything we dream is “realizable.” Reality does not have to be: it is simply what it is.
    Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)

America is, therefore the land of the future, where, in the ages that lie before us, the burden of the World’s history shall reveal itself. It is a land of desire for all those who are weary of the historical lumber-room of Old Europe.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
