Lotus Ware

Lotus Ware is a type of porcelain produced from approximately 1892 to 1896 at the Knowles, Taylor & Knowles (KT&K) pottery of East Liverpool, Ohio, United States. The name originated from the idea of the owner, Isaac Knowles, that the glaze of the pieces resembled the glowing sheen of lotus blossom petals.

Famous quotes containing the word lotus:

I passed a little further on and heard a lotus talk:
Who made the world and ruleth it, He hangeth on a stalk,
For I am in His image made, and all this tinkling tide
Is but a sliding drop of rain between His petals wide.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
