Lord Sumner

Grayson Maximillian Sumner II, or Lord Sumner, is a fictional character in the Grey Griffins series, written by Derek Benz and J. S. Lewis. The ex-husband of Annika Sumner, Lord Sumner is Max and Hannah's father. After his divorce from Annika, he left Avalon, Minnesota, and moved into a castle in Scotland.

The president of Sumner Enterprises, Lord Sumner has a German secretary named Ursula, and often forgets about his children, Max and Hannah. The four Grey Griffins, Max, Natalia, Ernie, and Harley, visit Lord Sumner's castle in The Rise of the Black Wolf, when Lord Sumner is kidnapped and threatened to be killed by Morgan LaFey, who is working in association with the Black Wolf Society. She demands that the young Griffins give her the most powerful weapon in the world, the Spear of Ragnarok. However, it is later revealed in the book that Lord Sumner himself works for the Black Wolf Society and was either captured intentionally or else faked it.

Famous quotes containing the words lord and/or sumner:

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay—
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.
    Martin Luther (1483–1546)

    through the Sumner Tunnel,
trunk by trunk through its sulphurous walls,
tile by tile like a men’s urinal,
    slipping through
    like somebody else’s package.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
