Consequently the remaining office is often known in short simply as the Lord High Commissioner.

Famous quotes containing the words lord and/or high:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be a healing for your flesh and a refreshment for your body.
    Bible: Hebrew, Proverbs 3:5-8.

In the most high and palmy state of Rome,
A little ere the mightiest Julius fell,
The graves stood tenantless and the sheeted dead
Did squeak and gibber in the Roman streets.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
