Transportation
In 2006, a highway from Hami to Lop Nur (Xinjiang Provincial Hwy 235) was completed.
In 2010, construction started on a 367 km (228 mi) railway along the same route, which will facilitate taking the potassium-rich salt mined at the lake to the Lanxin Railway mainline. By July 2012, track-laying on the line has been completed. The railway is scheduled to open in October 2012.
