Long-range Penetration - Post World War II

Post World War II

After World War II, long range operations were primarily performed by small units often of strength no greater than four men. Sabotage, surveillance and reconnaissance is carried out by the British Special Air Service (SAS), Australian Special Air Service Regiment, and the New Zealand Special Air Service (NZSAS). Long Range operations were also carried out by the Rhodesian Special Air Service and American Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols (LRRP) in the Vietnam War. The South African 32 Battalion performed long range penetration operations in Angola after the Angolan Civil War. The Sri Lanka Army long range penetration units have also carried out successful long range operations during the Sri Lankan Civil War.

Famous quotes containing the words post, world and/or war:

To the old saying that man built the house but woman made of it a “home” might be added the modern supplement that woman accepted cooking as a chore but man has made of it a recreation.
    —Emily Post (1873–1960)

    The world needs an enema.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

War and culture, those are the two poles of Europe, her heaven and hell, her glory and shame, and they cannot be separated from one another. When one comes to an end, the other will end also and one cannot end without the other. The fact that no war has broken out in Europe for fifty years is connected in some mysterious way with the fact that for fifty years no new Picasso has appeared either.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
