London Musicians Collective

The London Musicians' Collective (LMC) is a cultural charity based in London, England devoted to the promotion of contemporary, experimental and improvised music. From its foundation in 1975 until its reorganization in 2009, the LMC organized concerts, festivals, tours, workshops and publications in support of experimental music.

In 2002 the LMC was awarded a community radio licence to broadcast a new radio station, Resonance FM, in central London. It also produced a magazine, Resonance, and a range of CDs.

The LMC is funded by donations, membership fees and grants. It is supported by Arts Council England and the The PRS Foundation for New Music.

In 2009 the LMC ceased all operations other than being the operator of Resonance FM.

Famous quotes containing the words london, musicians and/or collective:

    Unreal City,
Under the brown fog of a winter dawn,
A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many,
I had not thought death had undone so many.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

As if the musicians did not so much play the little phrase as execute the rites required by it to appear, and they proceeded to the necessary incantations to obtain and prolong for a few instants the miracle of its evocation, Swann, who could no more see the phrase than if it belonged to an ultraviolet world ... Swann felt it as a presence, as a protective goddess and a confidante to his love, who to arrive to him ... had clothed the disguise of this sonorous appearance.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)

The decision to have a child is both a private and a public decision, for children are our collective future.
    Sylvia Ann Hewitt (20th century)
