Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs

Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs is an Australian snack food made by the Greens food company.

Originally released in the 1970s, it is caramelised, ready-to-eat popcorn, similar to the American Cracker Jack. The popcorn is coated with toffee and rolled in crushed peanuts. Flavours include butterscotch and caramel. Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs were known for their bizarre packaging, which featured surreal psychedelic artwork, reminiscent of R. Crumb or The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. This packaging was phased out in the late 1980s, and the sweets are now sold in a wrapper, featuring an insane-looking face on the front.

Famous quotes containing the words lolly, gobble, bliss and/or bombs:

A full bosom is actually a millstone around a woman’s neck: it endears her to the men who want to make their mammet of her, but she is never allowed to think that their popping eyes actually see her. Her breasts ... are not parts of a person but lures slung around her neck, to be kneaded and twisted like magic putty, or mumbled and mouthed like lolly ices.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

The bud of the apple is desire, the down-falling gold,
The catbird’s gobble in the morning half-awake
These are real only if I make them so. Whistle
For me, grow green for me and, as you whistle and grow green,
Intangible arrows quiver and stick in the skin
And I taste at the root of the tongue the unreal of what is real.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

    These two
    Imparadised in one another’s arms,
The happier Eden, shall enjoy their fill
    Of bliss on bliss.
    John Milton (1608–1674)

Civilization is maintained by a very few people in a small number of places and we need only some bombs and a few prisons to blot it out altogether.
    Cyril Connolly (1903–1974)
