Other Media Appearances

In 2012, the Smallville series was continued through the comic book medium. Written by Bryan Q. Miller, who also wrote for the television series, Lois's story continues as she lives her life with Clark, who has now become known to the world as "Superman". She and Chloe also discover a spaceship in Earth's atmosphere using Watchtower. In the second issue, Lois mocks Lex Luthor during a press conference for the "Guardian Defense Platforms" regarding the Luthors history of deaths and resurrections, commenting on the alternate universe Lionel Luthor's appearance after the death of his counterpart, Lex's own miraculous resurrection, and even asking if Tess would have the same miracle as well. In the third issues, Lois offers her condolences to Hank Henshaw's wife, Terri, after the shuttle crash. She is also caught in a crossfire between Clark and Lex, when the latter coerces the military into pursuing Superman after their confrontation at the shuttle crash. In the fourth issue, Clark distances himself from Lois to protect her, after he discovers that Lex is tracking his whereabouts using a radiation signature. Despite this, issue five reveals that Lois is able to visit Clark using the portal in the Kawatche Caves. Lois also finds herself as the center of her former intern Jeff's romantic attention after Clark's extended leave from the Daily Planet. In issue six, through a phone conversation, Lois helps Clark locate an Intergang contact, Joe Chill, as well as identify a new suspect for the manufacturer of the criminals' teleportation vests, Oswald Loomis. Lois later meets with Winslow Schott to find out his connections with Loomis, leading her to discovers that Loomis learned Superman's weakness to kryptonite from Schott. She then joins Oliver, Chloe, and Nightwing to help Batman get Clark to his secret base after Clark is wounded by Loomis's kryptonite bullets. After tending Clark's wounds, Lois teams up with Nightwing when Batman's base falls under Intergang's attacks. Clark saves them after his fight with Loomis. In the ninth issue, for honoring the promise she made to Wes Keenan (during Season 6's episode "Prototype"), Lois tries to get Lex's assistant, Otis Berg, to admit his employer's nefarious nature. She later meets with Lex, and is baffled by a word he wrote: "HELP!" In the next issue, Lois investigates the note Lex wrote, leading her to the ruins of LuthorCorp's abandoned Ridge Facility, where she finds LexCorp's employees being killed by the source of Bart Allen's powers, the Speed Force. Her former intern, Jeff, examines the handwriting on Lex's note, and the result is a match to Tess Mercer's instead of Lex's. Chloe also asks Lois to steal plans of Lional Luthor's memory device, Project Intercept.

Famous quotes containing the words media and/or appearances:

Today the discredit of words is very great. Most of the time the media transmit lies. In the face of an intolerable world, words appear to change very little. State power has become congenitally deaf, which is why—but the editorialists forget it—terrorists are reduced to bombs and hijacking.
    John Berger (b. 1926)

We often think ourselves inconsistent creatures, when we are the furthest from it, and all the variety of shapes and contradictory appearances we put on, are in truth but so many different attempts to gratify the same governing appetite.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)
