Lloyd Cole - Golf

Golf

Cole's parents were golf club stewards and, as an avid golfer, he is known for playing concerts in towns suspiciously close to famous golf courses. Cole's 5.3 handicap tied 11th place on Golf Digest's top 100 list of musicians (tied with Cooper and Dan Tyminski). An article he wrote, about playing the famous golf courses of the Melbourne Sandbelt while being on tour, was awarded with the Best Feature of the Year Award by the Australian Golf Writers Association. He has also starred in a commercial for a local golf supply store located near his home.

Famous quotes containing the word golf:

If there is any larceny in a man, golf will bring it out.
    Paul Gallico (1897–1976)

    emerald as heavy
as a golf course, ruby as dark
    as an afterbirth,
    diamond as white as sun
    on the sea ...
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

My attitude toward punctuation is that it ought to be as conventional as possible. The game of golf would lose a good deal if croquet mallets and billiard cues were allowed on the putting green. You ought to be able to show that you can do it a good deal better than anyone else with the regular tools before you have a license to bring in your own improvements.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)
